Perian
Mar 27th, 2007 by Graham Booker
I started work with Perian back in June of 2006 when Augie asked me, “say, any interest in updating the the ffmpeg based quicktime component?”. I admit, I was hesitant at first, but after a bit, I helped him set up a repository. At this point, I was hooked. I helped work on the following parts:
- Made a script which could build ffmpeg as a universal library
- Changed the data path for ffusion to expedite decoding
- Worked out big and little endian issues
- Increased the speed of ffmpeg’s decoding of H.264
Please check out my work on Perian’s main web page.
Hi,
I’m desperately looking for a solution to encode videos in the AMV format under Mac OS X 10.4
Up to this date there’s only one software doing this : Kptic, edited by Neonumeric (http://www.neonumeric.com/download/Kptic_MacOS.zip) and developped by DigDash (http://www.digdash.fr/web/fr/index.html), but this is a proprietary solution working only with Neonumeric players.
Would it be possible to include this format to the Perian component ?
Greetings
This is really the wrong place to ask this. You should have done this in perian’s ticket system instead.
Just wanted to make the effort to stop by and tell you how much I enjoy Perian. It is a stupendous program and a fine example of what makes Macs great: people who know how to write code. And Perian is a great example of a well implemented program: I don’t know how to use it, but I use it all the time.
Here’s wishing you some good vibes!
