Last night was the “All Men’s” breakaway. It was a breakaway for just the guys. They do this every once in a while, mostly when they can’t reserve Reed Arena for that week. Since Rudder is too small to hold all of breakaway, usually they split it up like this instead of resorting to holding two breakaway’s in Rudder. The girls get their chance in two weeks.

Next week, the guys and girls are together. The speaker seemed to make a big deal about the fact that it was Valentine’s Day, so I am dreading what he may have to say. I guess I will just have to see.

Not much happened at Breakaway this week with the exception of the fact that I was a lot later than normal. They did ask me to take the group picture, so here it is. Enjoy:

Silliness to start

Breakaway was mostly the normal this week with one exception. Several people resorted to silliness before breakaway. It started off with Rody dancing:

And then these guys started leapfrogging each other:

Afterward, a guy said that he would help EQ the sound board next week. Then he got to talking to Cory about getting into Wedding Videography. Cory just got too busy with it to keep up so maybe that will work out well for him.

Otherwise, everything is pretty much the norm.

Yet another week

Well, I had the fun of teaching Chris how to do the live stream. I get the feeling that he may not be doing it very often. There is hope that I can pass it off to someone. We had a meeting of the internet/email team before breakaway itself. Basically, we discussed where breakaway is going in the future in respect to the internet. I also snapped some pictures while I was there. One was of Curtis trying to get the TV working:

As you can see, it is not working yet. He didn’t manage to fix it. It has a loose connection in there somewhere. Somebody is going to have to open it up with a soldering iron to actually fix the thing. I shot some random pictures, including this one:

Three people enjoying themselves. The girl in the center wanted to be a part of a picture, so I let her enjoy the time.

Gregg had a good talk tonight. I am going to have to listen to it again. He had some good quotes too:

“You may date the wrong one in the right way”
and
“‘Are you [girlfriend here] going to wear that?’ It’s great to learn lessons like that on the wrong one”

Later, I got an email message from Amanda saying that she was trying to watch the stream on a Windows 98 machine. She was trying to re-install quicktime, but couldn’t find a version that didn’t require 2000. I found one for her, but it is likely too late. I will likely just give her a copy of the files so that she can watch them at her leisure.

A few things have changed with respect to breakaway.

First, the Internet/Email team has grown quite a bit recently. It went from 6 people (5 of which I never saw after the first meeting), to now about 8 people, all of whom I have actually seen more than once. In theory, I am supposed to be training a replacement, but that has not happened yet. Maybe this tuesday will prove to be better in that respect.

Breakaway bought a Mac Mini to do the stream. It is nice because I no longer have to lug my computer there. It was nice to show off the G5, but I am thankful for not having to carry a 50 pound computer around.

Gregg Matte returned for two weeks:

It was nice to see him again.

Well, that is all. I guess there is hope that next time will prove more interesting.
